What's New!?!
It was great to see the kiddos on Monday! I think some of them grew a few inches over Spring Break. We have had a great week and they are acting like first graders more and more every day. We are starting to go back and review everything that we have learned this year. Continue working with them at home so all that they have learned stays fresh on their minds!
Math:
• Addition
• Subtraction
• Shapes
• Graphing
Kidwriting:
• Writing a How to Piece (how to brush your teeth, how to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, etc.)
Literacy:
• Retelling with details
• Making connections with what they read
Science:
• Comparing the growth and plant parts of two plants (lima beans and flowers)

I have started conferencing with parents this week. If you haven’t scheduled a conference with me, I would love to meet you. Please, get in touch with me so we can schedule a time to meet.
The permission form for our Spring Field trip was sent home on Thursday. Please read over it carefully and send in the form and the $10 by Thursday the 21st. If you plan to attend the trip I would suggest coming to school by 9 or 9:15. Remember that you will have to provide your own transportation. You can ride with additional parents if you would like. If you have any additional questions, please feel free to contact me!
Homework started back up this week. Please support your child at home with their reading. Have them read it on their own instead of you reading the book first. They are doing really well at being able to sound out words!

Bits of Information
Thanks for all those who have sent in their end of the year conference forms. I already have most of them scheduled! If you still have not turned it in, please do so as soon as possible.
This week we had some papers fall out of a child’s backpack and were unable to figure out which student they belonged to. If you did not receive paperwork about your child being able to roller skate in gym and would NOT like your child to complete that activity, please send in a note and let us know.
The April Scholastic Book orders come home today. Remember that if you would like to order, you need to pay by check or online. Book orders for this month are due on April 15th.
Thanks to those who turned in the food form for the field trip. That helped us get things squared away at McDonalds. I will be sending home a permission slip after Spring Break. Please remember that if you would like to come you will need to come to school and visit the Family Resource Center to fill out a criminal record background check. I look forward to having you with us!
No homework over the break! Enjoy the time with your family!

Eric Carle Week
We spent a week doing an author study on Eric Carle. At the end of the week we read the book Pancakes, Pancakes and made pancakes in the classroom. Students got the chance to try blueberry, chocolate chip, and plain pancakes. Can you guess which ones were their favorite?
Dr. Seuss Week
We had a blast with I Love to Read Week! Enjoy the pictures of the kiddos dressing up as their favorite Dr. Seuss character and making Green Eggs and Ham!
Spring Break is Winding Down
Spring Break is winding down and I am looking forward to seeing the kids on Monday. Remember that school will now let out at it's regular time of 2:30. Enjoy the new pictures I've posted... sorry it's taken me so long to put them up on the site.
