What's New!?!
I have really enjoyed having the kids back this week! I am so proud of how good their behavior has been over such a long break. Next week we will work on using details in our writing. In Math we will start to introduce the concept of subtraction and continue working on 2D and 3D shapes. In Literacy we will be using informational texts to learn about arctic animals. Students will be challenged to identify the main idea and details from the stories we read.
Things you can work on at Home: In addition to homework here are some following activities you can complete if you wish:
• Continue to work on a few popcorn words a week. Remember the goal is to get at least that first list by the end of the year!
• Ask students the different ways you can add to get to 10. Challenge them to write a number sentence to represent that way!
• Practice counting to 100. (A lot are getting stuck at the 10’s- i.e. 68, 69… 70)
• Have your child practice writing his/her last name. The first letter needs to be capital and all the rest lowercase.
Bits of Information
I hope you all are finding my blog helpful. If you have not checked it out, I would encourage you to do so. Information usually gets posted on there first along with pictures from our classroom.

**Homework – Do not forget that Homework will be sent home on Fridays and be returned on Wednesdays. Make sure to read over the homework page as they have changed.
We are quickly coming into flu season. Please encourage your child to wash their hands frequently and review how to cough in their arm. If your child is running a fever, it is best if they stay home so they can get better and not spread germs.
Because of all the snow days the 2nd Nine Weeks did not end until today (Friday the 7th). Your child’s report card will be sent home on Thursday, January 13th.
If you would like to come in and volunteer in the class we would love to have you. The students always enjoy seeing other adults in the classroom and we enjoy the extra set of helping hands! If you let me know in advance, then I can make sure to have things ready for you. You can also come in and read a book to the students if you would like!
